In my other lives…
I was a singer/songwriter in NYC, 1979-1983. Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages in the USA and Japan, 1983-1996. I’m the mother of two girls, stepmother of two boys, second spouse of the love of my life. I am also a Behavior Specialist for special needs families with children birth to three. Many of my families I work with have a child who has been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, as do I. The most exciting news to happen in my field can be found on www.autism.com, a website which explains the biomedical and other treatments for autism which are breaking the cycle. I have recently witnessed a 2 year old boy blessed with a fierce mother and father who are, using all this knowledge available, bringing him back from wherever he was. Through the treatment approach explained in “Children with Starving Brains,” www.starvingbrains.com, and more traditional therapies, families like this one all over the planet are breaking the codes of this mysterious illness. It is as much a miracle of love as it is of science, as almost all of these cutting edge researchers are also parents and grandparents of these special children.
